NE Portland is one of my personal favorite areas in Portland. It has the perfect mix of old Portland neighborhoods with strips of neighborhood commercial property. The result is a classic neighborhood feel with boutique amenities throughout. Mississippi St., Fremont St., Irvington, above the ridge in Beaumont, and Alberta St., all provide places to gather for great food, art and of course coffee.
Homes for sale range from modest 800 sf. two bedrooms to large $2,000,000+ homes on the Alameda ridge with views of downtown. Irvington, Alameda and Beaumont have the largest concentration of big homes, many lovingly restored while keeping the original character intact. Alberta Arts has long been the “hip” neighborhood with a large strip of commercial storefronts, most locally owned. The surrounding homes are more modest in size than Alameda to the south but are similar in character with bungalows and craftsman common.
