Ladd’s Addition is located in inner SE Portland and is one of the more confusing neighborhoods to drive through until you get used to the street layout. It’s somewhat like a wagon wheel, and once I start gawking at houses and dodging crazy squirrels scurrying from tree to tree… I easily lose track of what direction I am heading.

At the center of the neighborhood is a circular park appropriately named “Ladd’s Circle,” where there is a small pocket of commercial storefronts including one of our favorite dessert spots, Palios.

Each “spoke” is highlighted with a rose garden…four in all …east, west, south and north. The housing stock in Ladd’s Addition is a nice mixture of small cottages and bungalows, and very large craftsman and colonial style homes.

Ladd’s has a special combination of large mature trees, beautiful homes of varying size and style, four spectacular rose gardens, and great proximity to Hawthorne and Division streets.
